The award is given to a person who has done an especially laudable effort for sound in film and television.

Explanatory Memorandum reads:
"Carl Edström is given "The Sound Wave Award 2007" for that he never jeopardizes quality in any of his many films, irrespective of genre. Recently, we could see and hear this in the' Arn-The Knight Templar "
The prizewinner is appointed by a vote of Film Sound Swedens members.
